In the aftermath of the massacre in Genosha, the X-Men are needed more desperately than ever. But in these violent times with new forces, both for and against the persecuted mutants, will they be enough to keep the peace?

After years of hostile tension, the cold stalemate achieved by the X-Men has been shattered by an all-out act of war. On New Year’s Day, a shadow branch of the increasingly powerful MRD launched a full-scale, brutal attack on the mutant nation of Genosha, leaving behind a path of destruction and political chaos in its wake. Now Genosha is no more, and all progress that had been made toward peace between mutants and humankind has been lost.

As the whole world demands answers, the U.S. government and the MRD alike have begun pointing fingers trying to absolve themselves of blame, all the while leaving those affected by the genocide in Genosha at a loss, barred from justice and uncertain of what their futures might hold.

With Genosha’s citizens scattered across the globe and the X-Men struggling to regroup, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been called in to investigate the attack and to keep the peace between mutants and non-mutants, but there is only so much one organization can do.

Now, with only a cryptic message from their deceased leader to go off of and years of resentment coming to surface, it falls to the rifted X-Men to once again unite and protect the last living part of Xavier: his dream of peace between mutants and mankind.

However, in these darkening, perilous times, that dream is becoming more fragile than ever.
