WELCOME.
The stalemate is over.
After years of hostility and tension between mutantkind and humanity, an all out act of war has shattered the tenuous peace once achieved by the X-Men.
At the start of the new year, a shadow branch of the increasingly powerful MRD launched a full scale, brutal attack on the mutant nation of Genosha.
The result is destruction, and political chaos beyond any precedent. Genosha is no more, thousands are dead, and all progress made toward peace has been lost.
As the world demands answers, the U.S. government and the MRD alike point fingers and try to absolve themselves of blame, leaving all those effected by the attack at a loss, uncertain of their futures and denied justice.
With Genosha’s citizens scattered between several continents and the X-Men struggling to regroup, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been called in to investigate the attack on the sovereign nation, but there is only so much one organization can do.
Now, with only a cryptic message from their deceased leader to go off of and years of resentment coming to surface, it falls to the rifted X-Men to once again unite and protect the last living part of Xavier: his dream of peace between mutants and mankind.
In these darkening, perilous times, that dream is more fragile than ever.

OOC
Bulletin Board This is an IC board used by characters to post notes, media/news updates, journal articles, etc. As long as it's in-character, it goes here. Small plot updates may also go here (with admin consent) in the form of news broadcasts, interviews, and newspaper articles.
Personal For your character's journal or personal threads, or anything else amazing that can be thought of and doesn't necessarily involve anybody else's characters.
Plot Discussion A board for OOC discussion and organization of plots. Share ideas with fellow role-players, discuss and organize plots, post sign-up sheets, and do all other OOC plot-related things in this board.
Xavier Institute (17 sub-boards) The Xavier Institute, established by Charles Xavier, is a mansion that has been converted into a school for mutant children. It is located on a large swath of private property on the edge of town. The grounds are bordered on two sides by forest. The school is backed by a high cliff face with a dramatic ocean view, and a thin stretch of private beach.
Bayville General One of New York State's more high-end hospitals, thanks to funding from 'anonymous' local donors, Bayville Gen. is able to deal with nearly any human illness. There used to be a private wing donated by Charles Xavier to specify on mutant maladies, but since the hospital gained a new head, Dr. James Manette - a notorious anti-mutant figurehead - that wing has been closed off, and mutants are no longer accepted into the hospital. They are instead redirected to the hospital in NYC, which does accept mutant patients.
Serge's The story behind the owner has been varied into local legend. No one knows what branch of the military he hails from or even if he was in the military. What people do know is that Serge's is the best place to unwind. Check your badges at the door, cause everyone is equal here and territorial BS just doesn't cut it. But for a cold beer, nothing beats Serge's.
Parks There are a few parks scattered through the small city, taking up a block or three here and there. There is a large park in the heart of the city, a site for summer concerts and theater troops.
X-Factor HQ Located in one of the brick buildings on the second floor above a year-round, oddly successful costume shop, X-Factor Investigations calls the smaller office upstairs home. Inside is a reception desk, a work room with multiple desks in the back, and a small kitchenette stocked with snacks.
Streets and Alleys The streets of Bayville are safe enough during the day, but be sure to keep your wits about you at night. The alleys are an entirely different story...
Forest Although Bayville is a relatively modern city, there are still those who enjoy hiking and biking in the backwoods. Bayville has a large swath of forest just for this. Don't feed the wildlife.

Young's Guns Bayville’s local gun shop, owned by Henry Young, has stood firm with its brick walls for almost the past decade. Dealing not only in a large selection of firearms and ammo, it also holds a stock of military surplus goods, knives, and clothing and a modest selection of magazines. If you need a weapon cleaned or just fire off a few rounds in a firing range for practice, then Young’s Guns is the place to stop. ((Due to a lack of NPC clerks, please run threads by Henry Young))
Ceres Garden Cafe This charming cafe is owned by Amaryllis Greene and is part of a brick building that houses other businesses with close proximity to Young's Guns. The cafe has a clear nature theme that shows from the various planters to the garden patio. Inside the cafe; long wooden benches, tables, a couch, and large chairs that are near a fireplace provide enough seating for twenty. Ama is here serving customers more often than not, but there are NPC workers to interact with.
The Mutant World Fighting Championship Arena (1 sub-board) This particular arena is located in Bayville, New York—just outside of Centre Island Town Park. This water-side arena can seat 9,300 people and hosts three levels. The first level is the main floor of the arena. The second floor holds 5 different restaurants and bars, and a MWFC merchandise shop. On the third floor is divided into a ballroom/banquet hall for big company events and a VIP nightclub. There is a basement where the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms and a medical bay are stored.
Main Island Genosha is a haven for mutants, created by Magneto. Except for the massive metallic city created by the Master of Magnetism himself, the island is relatively untamed.

New York
Mutant Response Division Headquarters The big, official building for the MRD. Security is tight here, for obvious reasons. There is a 50 meter perimiter of open space between the thick, defensible walls and the building itself. And once you get in, who knows what kind of security you'll run into.

Central Park A green, lush and famous park set in the heart of New York City. It's a perfect place for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Just be careful after dark.
Subway This board covers both the working transit system of New York, and the old abandoned sections where the cities transient members frequently reside. You'll find mutants down here, or they'll find you.

NYC Hospital NYC's hospital is the closest major hospital near Bayville that accepts mutant patients. It is headed by a vastly neutral party, whose main interest - thankfully - is treating the ill and injured and staying financially afloat in the process. Until Bayville General policy changes, most mutants come here for their treatment. Any humans with superiority complexes either shell out more money to have private facilities, or go to Bayville General to be rid of those pesky mutants.
Outside New York We realize your characters may have broader travel plans than just within the great state of New York. Here, they can go anywhere else in the country, the continent, or even the world.
The Archive (5 sub-boards) Here is where threads of old go to hibernate. Old threads from Acornrack that have been finished but not forgotten can be stored here.
